25 May Young Artists At Work!
Last Sunday, May 20, 2012, Artemis Art conducted its second art class for junior artists, facilitated by Ms. Tan See Ling. See Ling, as you already know, is one of the three artists featured in our ongoing group exhibition “Our Love, Our Passion, Our Gratitude“.
The first session was conducted back in February this year, and because the response was good, we decided that it was time to hold a second session. This time around, eleven children took part in the class, whose ages ranged from 4+ to 12 years.
See Ling started the class off by getting the children to choose one of her 5 paintings on display, and to do a pencil sketch on paper of the painting they chose. That sketch was then be used to create a draft painting. From the draft painting, each of the kids then created their interpretation on canvas.
It was a fun afternoon for everyone involved, and each of the children went home with an art piece of their own creation. Oh, and cupcakes!
Artemis Art intends to have more art classes  for children in the future, as part of our larger mission of inculcating an appreciation for the arts. And there’s no better place to start than with children. Do let us know if you are interested in classes similar to the one we conducted last weekend. For the time being, our focus is on children’s classes, but we may be looking at classes for adults in the not too distant future.
