16 Dec Three Under Twenty One
Since we began back in 2011, one of Artemis Art’s main focus areas has been the promotion of young artists. So, we thought that for the last exhibition of the year we would do something that keeps to this aim.
The difference, however, is that this time around the young artists that we are showcasing are really young. To be precise, two 17 year olds and one 13 year old.
Three Under Twenty One showcases the artworks of Alicia Wong (17), Faith Foo (13), and Shannon Taylor Sim (17). From Alicia’s Pop Art inspired digital collages, to Faith’s 2D and 3D work based on free-flowing line play, and Shannon’s awe inspiring hyper realism, the collection of works seen in its totality mimics just how diverse the world of visual arts can be.
What we see collectively in their works is raw artistic talent, and it is this talent that we would like to see being honed and polished. In time, and with it greater life experience, we think that each of the three young individuals has the potential to become accomplished artists in their own right.
Three Under Twenty One will begin its run on Thursday, December 18, 2014, with an opening reception that evening at 7:30pm. Artemis Art is pleased to announce that the guest of honor for the evening will be none other than Dr. Hartini Zainudin, CEO of Yayasan Siti Sapura Husin, a not-for-profit organization that works with the poor and marginalized. Tini has also been a very vocal and active advocate of children’s rights, and founded Yayasan Chow Kit (formerly known as NurSalam).
The exhibition continues until Saturday, January 10, 2015, giving those who may not be able to make it to the official opening reception ample time to catch this exhibition, the last for Artemis Art this year, and one that will usher in 2015.
The exhibition catalog presented here has been modified from its original layout to facilitate easier reading online. The printed version is a trifold brochure, and is available from the gallery.
