Since we began back in 2011, one of Artemis Art's main focus areas has been the promotion of young artists. So, we thought that for the last exhibition of the year we would do something that keeps to this aim.

eFlyer_Conjoin_Spontaneous1The word spontaneous has a few meanings, depending on context. One of these definitions is the idea of a natural inclination or impulse, and the absence of external stimuli.

SPONTANEOUS #1 is the first project by CONJOIN, the fledgling art collective recently formed, and brings together four artists with very varied styles. In its current configuration, the collective consists of C.C. Kua, Celine Wong, Nicholas Choong, and founder T.W. Chang, more popularly known as Skinner.

The Malaysian Institute of Art, better known by its acronym MIA, has produced a significant number of artists over the years, many of whom have successfully established themselves in the Malaysian art scene. One of them is Chong Buck Tee, who graduated from the institute in 1972.

With a career spanning more than 30 years, Chong Buck Tee has won numerous awards at home and abroad, earning him the reputation as being one of Malaysia's foremost Chinese brush artists. He is currently the president of the Bakti Art Centre, and a member of the Selangor & Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur Shui-Mo Art Society.
