Spring’s Fragrance Permeates The Air

Spring’s Fragrance Permeates The Air

The Malaysian Institute of Art, better known by its acronym MIA, has produced a significant number of artists over the years, many of whom have successfully established themselves in the Malaysian art scene. One of them is Chong Buck Tee, who graduated from the institute in 1972.

With a career spanning more than 30 years, Chong Buck Tee has won numerous awards at home and abroad, earning him the reputation as being one of Malaysia’s foremost Chinese brush artists. He is currently the president of the Bakti Art Centre, and a member of the Selangor & Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur Shui-Mo Art Society.

In lands more temperate than ours, Spring is acknowledged to be one of the most beautiful periods of the year. The beauty of Earth’s rebirth after a long and cold Winter is superbly captured by the artist in this collection of his most recent works.

For this exhibition, the 9th in his illustrious career, Chong Buck Tee has produced a total of 38 art pieces that depict the many colourful facets of spring. The serenity of the idyllic scenes crafted by this artist leaves us with a sense of inner peace, allowing us to imagine being engulfed in the fresh scents of flowing landscapes reborn and rejuvenated.

It is a distinct honour for Artemis Art to have been given the opportunity host this artist’s 9th solo exhibition entitled “Spring’s Fragrance Permeates The Air“, which begins its run on Friday, June 13 and continues until Saturday, June 28, 2014.

An opening reception for the exhibition will be held at 3pm on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at our gallery. As with our other opening receptions, refreshments will be served.

Similar with other forms of painting that may be more familiar, Chinese brush art has many sub-genres and styles. Chong Buck Tee’s compositions for this exhibition combine traditional methods of brush art with elements that are more contemporary. The opening reception will be a good opportunity to meet with the artist and better understand the philosophy and thought processes that have gone into the production of this works.

We look forward to seeing you at the gallery for this exhibition, and in particular, for the opening reception on June 15.
