In this serene work, Enggar Yuwono depicts a hummingbird whispering into the ear of a crying Buddha figure. The clue of what is being whispered may be surmised from imagery found in the rest of the work – it is a “report” of how mankind has caused severe damage to the world. Titled in Bahasa Indonesia, Air Mata Buddha translates to ‘Buddha’s Tear’ in English.
