Now Open: mea cuppa

On Thursday June 7, 2012, a group of 15 young artists gathered together for an art jamming session at The Bee @ Publika, in conjunction with the launch of the Genio™ from the Nescafé® Dolce Gusto™ line of products.  The result: 15 amazing pieces of work by the young artists.

Now Open!

Entitled mea cuppa, the exhibition opens today, and will be on until July 12.  For a view of the actual pieces in the gallery, you can check out Artemis Art’s Facebook page.

The official opening of the exhibition is scheduled for Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at 4pm, and we are happy to announce that the Director General of the Balai Seni Visual Negara, Dato’ Mohd Yusof Ahmad, has been gracious enough to be our guest of honor for the opening.

Official Invitation Flyer v1

We’ve called the exhibition mea cuppa, a play on the famous Latin phrase “mea culpa”. If such a phrase did exist, it would loosely translate to “my cuppa”, symbolizing the unique creative genius of each artist who only had the simple concept of “coffee is not just black“, the theme for the product launch.

The fifteen young artists who took part in the art jamming session and thus participating in this exhibition are:

  • Amirfirdaus Ahmad Tamizi
  • Chia Khoo Hoong
  • Fahmi  Taib
  • Faiz Yunus
  • Hady Aris
  • Hafidz Shabri
  • Hazul Abu Bakar
  • Kenji Chai
  • Kharunissa Zainal Abidin
  • Mat Ramli Mansor
  • Muhammad Akhmal Asyraf
  • Nazmi Ismail
  • Nur Hanisah Zainal Abidin
  • Shahrul Sahee
  • T.W. Chang

Each of the art pieces is priced at RM 2,000. As part of our commitment and mission to promote a more vibrant scene for art and culture in Malaysia, a portion of the sales proceeds will go to the Matahati Art Fund (MAF), whose aim is to provide funding and support to visual artists, in addition to helping the Malaysian art scene in general.

Artemis Art would like to thank Nestlé Products Sdn Bhd for using art as platform to communicate their product message, and for providing a wonderful opportunity for the fifteen young artists to showcase their talents. We would also like to thank ArtSeni Gallery, in particular Mr. Philip Wong, for inviting us to be part of this initiative.

And of course, a big THANK YOU to all the fifteen artists who participated wholeheartedly in the art jamming session. The amazing work you put out in such a short period of time given is inspiring, and a testament to your talent. Artemis Art wishes all of you the very best in your art career, and we’re quite certain that you’ll do just great!
