Better known by his artist name DRIN, Aldrin Dave S. Basister is a young artist whose works reflect the visual aesthetics of his generation. Combining illustration and pop surrealism, his works draw upon nostalgia and personal memories, expressed through childlike characters that have become his signature.
Using bright and vivid colors that create an atmosphere of joy and wonder, his works evoke a certain childlike innocence that invites the viewer to contemplate their own experience and memories, juxtaposed against characters set in surreal and unusual settings, creating a kind of dialogue between the viewer and what is viewed.
In addition to painting, DRIN has also been recognized for his sculptural works, earning him a place as a finalist in the annual Shell National Student Art Competition three years running.
